Thinking of your summer holiday
The last couple of days has brought mixed weather but with the clocks going forward and days starting to be warmer and sunnier, not to mention longer only means one thing: summer is coming. With thoughts of summer our minds will be turning to holidays, where to go, and what kind of holiday. It seems that going abroad and having a holiday centred on a beach environment is still popular and probably will be for some time to come. To that end many people will have or will someti
Lacking confidence? My my my.
How much are you affected by a lack of confidence? How does your confidence influence those around you? I ask these questions after watching another episode of Homicide Hunter. A documentary series which features the cases of the Colorado police Department Homicide team, notably the cases investigated by the now retired Lt Joe Kenda. The reason this episode got me thinking along these lines was it was the second episode I’ve seen in which Joe Kenda was expected to fail. The f
Hooray it's Monday
Great news, it’s Monday. That’s not such great news? You don’t like Mondays? Always feel tired on Mondays? Okay I’m going to say something you may not like, that’s not Mondays fault, it’s yours. Simple as that. I know it is the first day of the working week but that’s just where the problem starts. You see it’s not that we have five working days straight ahead of us when we rise on Monday morning but that we have just had two days off and what we did during those two days. Th
Sugar Tax
I have no intention of discussing politics, political parties or anything of that sort but do wish to ere my views on the “sugar tax”. Announced in the budget yesterday, a levy will be paid by soft drinks manufacturers on sugary drinks. To give the manufacturers time to adjust their recipes this tax will not come into force until 2018. The reasoning behind this tax is to reduce obesity in children and follows a long campaign by celebrity chef Jamie Oliver who has been campaig
Speedo Mick
During the televised coverage of the Everton V Chelsea game this weekend the cameras turned to the crowd and picked out a man wearing just a swimming cap and swimming trunks. This is Michael Cullen aka Speedo Mick. I first heard of Speedo Mick when he was interviewed on BBC Radio 5 and he is a man with a mission. His aim is to raise £30,000 for the Woodlands Hospice Charitable Trust, so far in his quest he has swam the English Channel in just under 16 hours. That swim was bac
Who said you can't?
If at first you don’t succeed, try and try again. So the old saying goes but is there more to this saying than just its use by parents to encourage their children to feel better about failure? Young children don’t need this encouragement, it’s only as we get older and have been told “you can’t do that” a few times that we place barriers and limits on our own potential. For example the seven year old says that she wants to be an astronaut would traditionally be told that “that
I'm back
Regular readers will know I haven’t posted for roughly a week or so. My apologies for this but I haven’t been well and to be honest really didn’t feel like sitting down and writing. I’m over it now and back. So normal service is resumed and if you want to book an appointment please give me a call. Working on my own presents problems when I’m ill. Unlike when you’re employed and you just call in and tell the boss, maybe go the doctor and get a note for work, its more complicat
